Terms of Service

1. Agreement to these terms

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Services. By using the Services, you represent that you meet this requirement and that any information you provide to us is accurate. If you use the Services on behalf of another member of your household, you are responsible for that use under these Terms.

Our Privacy Policy describes how we collect and use your personal information and is part of these Terms.

2. Our services

HelloMealio helps you plan meals, save and import recipes, build shopping lists, and coordinate cooking with your household. Some features are free; others require a paid subscription ("HelloMealio Pro"). We may add, change, or remove features at any time, and we do not guarantee that any particular feature will always be available.

3. Your account and household

You need an account to use the app. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account and for keeping access to your sign-in email secure. HelloMealio is built around shared households: content you add to a household (meal plans, recipes, shopping lists) is visible to and editable by other members of that household. Only invite people you trust.

You can delete your account at any time in the app's settings or by following the instructions at hellomealio.com/delete-account.

4. Subscriptions and billing

HelloMealio Pro is offered as an auto-renewing subscription (billed monthly or yearly). Subscriptions are purchased through, and billed by, the app store on your device — the Apple App Store or Google Play — not by us directly.

• Auto-renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
• Free trials. If your plan includes a free trial, the subscription price is charged when the trial ends unless you cancel before then.
• Canceling. Cancel anytime in your device's subscription settings (App Store or Google Play). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep Pro access until then.
• Refunds. Payments are processed by the app store, and refunds are governed by that store's policies. Request refunds through Apple or Google.
• Price changes. We may change subscription prices. Changes apply to renewals after we or the app store give you notice, and you can cancel before the change takes effect.

5. AI features and food safety

Parts of the Services — including meal plan generation, recipe import and normalization, photo scanning, and the voice cooking assistant — are powered by artificial intelligence. AI-generated content can be incomplete or wrong, including ingredient lists, quantities, substitutions, cooking times, and temperatures.

Always use your own judgment when preparing food. Verify ingredients against your allergies and dietary restrictions, and follow safe food-handling and cooking practices. The Services do not provide medical, nutritional, or dietary advice, and nothing in the Services is a substitute for guidance from a qualified professional.

6. Your content

You keep ownership of the content you add to the Services — recipes, photos, notes, meal plans, and anything else you create or upload ("Your Content"). You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, process, display, and transmit Your Content as needed to operate and improve the Services, including processing it with the third-party AI providers described in our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for Your Content. When you import recipes from websites, social media, or photos, you are responsible for making sure your use of that material is for your own personal, non-commercial cooking and complies with any rights the original creator holds.

7. Our intellectual property

The Services — including the app, website, design, logos, and software — are owned by HelloMealio LLC and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on your personal devices for your own non-commercial use. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Services, or reverse engineer the app except where the law permits it.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Services in a way that violates any law or these Terms;
• Interfere with or disrupt the Services, or attempt to access them by any means other than the app and website we provide;
• Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems, or circumvent any security or rate-limiting measures;
• Use automated tools to scrape or bulk-extract content from the Services;
• Resell the Services or use them to build a competing product;
• Upload content that is unlawful, infringing, or harmful to others.

9. Third-party services

The Services link to and interoperate with third-party services — for example, websites you import recipes from, app store billing, and sign-in providers like Apple and Google. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them.

10. Termination

You can stop using the Services and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services if you violate these Terms, if we reasonably believe your use harms the Services or other users, or if we discontinue the Services. Where practical, we will give you notice before terminating your account. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 6, 7, and 11 through 14) will survive.

11. Disclaimers

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that content (including AI-generated content) will be accurate or reliable.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HelloMealio LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Services. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Services will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Services in the twelve months before the claim arose or fifty US dollars ($50).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of these limitations may not apply to you.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless HelloMealio LLC and its officers, members, and agents from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from Your Content or your violation of these Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Services will be brought in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, and you consent to their jurisdiction, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring claims elsewhere.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by a revised "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we make material changes, we will give you notice — for example, in the app or by email. Continuing to use the Services after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
